CREATE & SKATE
CREATE & SKATE
Paint. Ride. Give Back.
Sunday, November 16th | 10am-12pm
What Is This?
We're moms who started Stay Feral because we believe kids (and honestly, adults) need more opportunities to create things, move their bodies, and be part of something bigger than their algorithm.
Create & Skate is our first event. You paint a skateboard deck. You can take it home as art or make it rideable with discounted parts from our local skate shop partner Long Island City Kleaners. There will be skateboarding instruction for anyone interested—especially beginners, because that's what we all are at heart.
It’s very affordable. It's for families. All proceeds go to Hour Children, an organization doing actual good work supporting women and families in Queens.
Also there's hot chocolate & baked goods.
HERE'S WHAT HAPPENS
Arrival & Welcome (10:00 AM)
When you arrive, we'll check you in and welcome you with complimentary hot chocolate, apple cider, water, and fresh baked goods. Grab a seat, meet other families, and get comfortable.
Board Design Fundamentals (10:10 AM)
Before you start painting, we'll show you the essentials:
How to work with the board's shape so your design looks perfect

Your Creative Time (10:30 AM – 11:30 AM)
This is your time to paint. Whether you're creating geometric designs, abstract art, something wild, or just vibes—our team is here to help and inspire. Work at your own pace. No judgment, just creativity.

Why Hour Children?
100% of event proceeds go to Hour Children, a Queens-based organization that provides housing, childcare, job training, and support to women and families rebuilding their lives.
They do the hard, essential work of helping people get stable and stay stable. We're just painting skateboards, but every dollar helps.
We're also collecting donations:
We're partnering with Hour Children to support families in need. If you'd like to bring clean, gently used clothing donations—especially coats—we'll have a collection station at the event. Every contribution makes a difference. (Not required, but greatly appreciated!)

This is a grassroots event. We're not professionals. We're two moms with a vision, some borrowed tables, and a lot of enthusiasm.
